Boiled peanuts without the shell

The story of Gameday Nuts is a simple one really.

One summer day on the coast of North Carolina, Tommy and Russ were on the beach enjoying the warm ocean breeze, talking about the upcoming college football season, and eating that quintessentially southern sports treat, fresh boiled peanuts.

Anyone that has had those still-wet shells knows that sometimes the meat gets stuck. When a boiled peanut swells with flavor, it can get lodged and the snacker has three options: pry it out with fingers while it mushes together, scoop it with your teeth (you know you’ve done it and you know this is never satisfying) or just toss it aside and open the next one.

In the first two options, your hands get sticky or your gums jabbed by shell. And the third option is just heartbreak as you throw away part of your snack.

No more sticky nuts

Tommy and Russ coined it “sticky nuts” and wondered just how many peanuts were discarded in stadiums on game days by frustrated sports snackers.

And that’s when the idea of Gameday Nuts came to us. Boiled peanuts without the shell. Simple enough, right?

So we got to work to see if we could do it, and we did.

In between a golf match, the Women’s World Cup, late season baseball games and the start of College Football, Russ took halftimes and time-outs to tinker in the kitchen to see just how close he could get to the original product without shells at any point in preparation.

Tommy and Russ also figured they needed some help, no one can do all that cooking and still catch the games, so they brought in childhood friends to create the official Gameday Nuts business.

And Gameday Nuts is growing.

Originating in Charleston, SC, childhood home of all our founders, it’s the ideal place for Southern tradition to grow, but with a twist.

We are rolling out in high school football stadiums across the county, and will be expanding across the SEC and ACC in collegiate sports. We may even be able to convince some of those northern holdouts to try our snack and show up in hockey arenas.

Our Product: Simply Honoring the Southern Delicacy

There are two things we love about boiled peanuts.

First of all, we consider them to be perfect snack – simple and healthy. Did you know that peanuts actually become a healthier food once they are boiled? It’s true.

Secondly, when we are eating boiled peanuts, we are usually enjoying some type of sporting event with friends or family.

Gameday Nuts recipes stay true to the simplicity of this great southern delicacy.  We source jumbo peanuts from some of the finest farmers in the southeast. We combine those peanuts with just the right amount of “smoked” salt, (our secret Southern ingredient) and boil them in fresh water until they’re the perfect texture and flavor. This recipe is what we call our “Coastal” flavor.

For those who like to spice up their life and get a little more out of their nuts, we have our “Creole” flavor. We take the same jumbo peanuts and fresh water and mix in our secret blend of Cajun spices. The spices add the perfect amount of heat to the perfectly textured boiled peanuts.

Whether you like your boiled peanuts salty, dil-flavored, or with a little heat - Gameday Nuts have you covered!

Our Product Difference: The Easier to Eat Game Day Treat.

Whether you are on the couch with a few friends or in the stadium with a few thousand friends, sharing peanuts is a tradition, but it comes with a huge mess. Maybe you're not the one cleaning up, but someone has to.

With Gameday Nuts, boiled peanuts are easier to eat:

  • No “sticky nuts” (stuck in the shell)
  • No cracking open empty shells
  • No digging out the peanuts with your teeth
  • No getting your hands dirty
  • No pile of empty shells to throw away
  • And still with savory flavors, perfect side for a cold drink

Our boiled peanuts are cooked, cooled, packaged, and frozen. You can eat them at any temp, although we suggest thawing them at least.

Room temp works best, but for that warm comfort at a fall ballgame, just put them in a bowl and microwave them for a few seconds.
